In late 2011 Glaston were approached by soft drinks giant, Calypso, to investigate the use of nitrogen generators to naturally extend the shelf life properties of their products.
Following a detailed analysis, Glaston recommended that a bespoke nitrogen generator with an integral refrigerant dryer and class one air filtration would be an effective and efficient solution.
The cost of installing the nitrogen generator, which uses the spare compressed air capacity available to Calypso, was significantly lower than the cost of buying in liquid nitrogen. The compressed air supplying the generator comes from HPC high efficiency air compressors that have been supplied, installed and serviced by Glaston over the years since 1980, making it an economical and cost-saving solution.

Chris Edwards the Engineering Manager at Calypso who headed up the project commented, “Glaston offered a tailored, reliable economical solution to a potentially very costly project. The unit has been in service for just over 12 months and has worked impeccably.”
As a rule, using nitrogen with a purity of up to 99.99% will generate significant cost savings for the user.
